Velvet Acid Christ - Church Of Acid

Velvet Acid Christ are one of my favourite bands of all time. I discovered them 1998, when they released "Calling Ov The Dead" and i have to admit, I have not heard anything like that before. Sure, I listened to EBM and Industrial a lot, but this mixture of Goa, Industrial, EBM, harsh beats, melodic synth lines stroke me as something very unique.

Church Of Acid was their first official release, and while the quality of the artwork from VAC releases really differs a lot (although there are some gems like "Fun With Knives" and "Hex Angel") is pretty much the worst (apart from the inferal "Between The Eyes" series), so here is my alternate cover - hope you like it :)

Senser - Schematic

Anyone of you remember the late ninties metal scene? one of the breeds igniting from this time is crossover - Biohazard, Clawfinger, all this hip hop / metal hybrids. Biohazard and Clawfinger were ok back then, but what i really loved back then was Senser and their Stacked Up album.

The mixture out of female and male vocals, good riffs and nice hooks really did it for me. Their next album, Asylum, was different and took me a while to get used to, but after a while i also loved this one.

The good news for Senser fans is, after a six years hiatus they released a new album in 2004 called "SCHEMAtic". The main issue with the records was, apart from a lack of new ideas (it basically sounds exactly like "Stacked Up" is the awful, awful cover artwork.

Anyway, so here is my version of that cover, i hope that you like it, by clicking on the image you can get a higher resolution version of it.




The artwork is a 2D/3D compositing. Face from poser, texturing and rendering in Maya, compositing in Photoshop.

Unternull - The Failure Epiphany

I just noticed recenty how awesome Unter Null really are - a female fronted alternative to Velvet Acid Christ, which i also adore a lot. Anyway, the main reason for me that it took me so long to get to like them are the album covers - i generally don't have a aversion with gore, but for some reason Unter Null and especally The Failure Epiphany generate quite a disgusting feeling.

My approach to the artwork might be a very different one, but i feel that it also works nicely. i always like to create artwork that makes you curious about the music inside.

I have to admit that a lot of the aestetic comes from the stock i used, i have been dying to use that picture for something.
